Today I listened to the entire
video of a hearing that Rep. John Conyers convened on 6/16/05
which was attended by a good number of Democrats, media personnel,
and others. The subject matter: the Downing Street
Minutes.
Witnesses who gave testimony were:
1. Joe Wilson, a former
US ambassador
2. Ray McGovern, CIA analyst
3. Cindy
Sheehan, mother of a fallen American soldier, and
4. John Bonifaz, constitutional lawyer.
These are names you should
remember.
This video is absolutely stunning. 3+ hours. If it were
on the silver screen in two parts, properly advertised and
billed as a double feature, I believe the box office take
would even make Michael Moore or Steven Spielberg slightly jealous. This is compelling stuff. I
suggest you watch from beginning to end.
There have been times in the last 5 years I must admit to you
that I have lost heart... times that I wanted to give up...
times I wondered if I had given up... wondered if I had just been wasting time.
If you have ever felt like this, then you should watch this
video. Nothing that I have seen or heard in recent
memory has given me more hope for the future... or more
pause... than meeting and listening to what the people that
show up in this video have to say...
I am sorry to report, that all to often you just can't accept on
its face what you hear, see, or read in the media if you want
to be
sure you are getting the whole story or even the right flavor
of the story. You have to go to the source and experience
things for yourself. This is one of those times.
Had a friend not suggested it,
I would have missed this, even though I've heard and read on
the internet what many other people have said about the Downing Street Memo and/or
Conyers' hearing on it. I'm offering this so that maybe
you won't miss it either.
